I first found Pilates when I needed it the most. After graduating from college (We Are… Penn State!), I moved to New York City to work in Editorial. I was overweight and exhausted from simply existing. I remember coming from work and falling asleep on my couch almost immediately every single night. My body ached everywhere. I knew this wasn’t normal, especially for a 21-year-old. I tested out numerous group fitness classes, dragging myself through dance cardio and HIIT classes before stumbling into Pilates.
From my first Pilates class, I felt a spark. It felt like, for the first time in my life, my body and brain were talking to one another. Finally, my body wanted to be my friend. Within months, my energy and zest for life returned. A better, stronger, more mindful me emerged.
When the opportunity to teach Pilates came to me a year later, I knew I had to take it. I wanted to help others shine brighter and more vibrantly in their own lives through Pilates. As I dived in to fitness full time, I continued to hone my approach.
Today, my method includes traditional strength training practices with the six key principles of Pilates: breath, control, flow, precision, concentration, and centering. I aspire my Movers to look beyond their workouts and take a holistic approach to all aspects of their health including sleep, nutrition, and stress management. It is my mission to empower Movers to use their practice as a way to elevate everything they do, on and off the mat.
